STARS news, this week's meeting, etc.
I decided it might be nice if I were to come on here every once in a while and give you, the STARS lj community, updates on what's going on with the club. You all get the emails we send out, I'm sure, but this is a club area and so I hope to keep it updated with club news. So here's what's going on with the lovely STARS folks this week:

As usual, meeting this Monday (technically today, it's 12:50 a.m.) at 8:00 in Blackistone. We'll be talking about gay marriages and all the many issues relating to it. Come out (no pun intended) and share your opinions. We love hearing from all of you. Also, Em (vice president, in case you weren't aware)and Jake Child (last year's 2nd semester club president and one of our awesome members) will be speaking to you all about the living wage campaign and how it pertains to domestic partner benefits. I was going to put up a bit of information about it here, but they'll explain it a lot better tomorrow night than I ever could with my limited knowledge, on livejournal, at almost 1:00 in the morning. These are very important issues that are relevant to our club and what we support. Come, share whatever knowledge you have, and get something to think about this week (besides midterms and papers).

Also, I'm sure you all know that our lovely webmistress Gina, as well as two of her friends, were involved in a car accident about a week ago. They're all doing fine, and I'm sure you've seen Gina about campus on her crutches, "hobbling about" as she and I like to call it. But seriously, please keep Gina, Sean, and Alexandra in your thoughts and/or your prayers. While the other students may not be members of the club (and may not even be sure if they support gay rights), they are part of the club family, regardless. Keep them in your thoughts.

I suppose that's all the STARS news for now. Hope to see you all at the meeting tomorrow! Don't be afraid to bring new friends, and bug other members who haven't been coming regularly to meetings! We'd like to see as many of you as possible...

Your secretary,

I feel like being: busy
I'm dancing to: the sounds of my roommate typing an essay (eek!)

Everyone is welcome here...unless you disagree with Joanna or Jake...and then you get the death glare.

That's why I don't go to STARS anymore. You say you're open, but you're just a clique.

Hello poster-
I have to say, I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm sure that if our behavior was off-putting to you, we didn't mean for that effect. It's true that there are many very opinionated members of the club (which I see as a strong point for activists), and being a (slightly) quieter person myself, my personality differs from theirs at that point. Sometimes this can make a person uncomfortable, and you- or anyone else, for any reason- are always welcome to talk to me about issues you may have. Shoot me an email at swbastien@smcm.edu. You will, of course, be kept confidential.
